Devlog 3: Trimming the Public Area


Another months has passed and despite the world's best efforts, I've managed to finish the second part of the Deeper Sainthood: The Public Area. This part of the game has three major rooms and a minor one, the Playroom, the Exhibitionism Hall, the Receiving Area and the Deepest Sainthood. With this, more than half of the areas are done, as part 3 and 4 will only have two major rooms each and maybe one or two minor rooms attached.

Progress with this part was a bit slower than I would have liked, but I still got it done in pretty much exactly one month. My hope is that the remaining two parts will go a little bit faster, but my imaginary deadline of the start of May will remain quite tight. After finishing the areas, there is still some bugtesting (and fixing) to be done, as well as replacing the placeholder artworks and sounds, which I've used for pretty much anything that isn't an overworld sprite. Still, I'll remain commited and hope for the best.

It's been incredible to see progress speed up. It took several months to go from nothing to the demo and then finishing the first area. The second area, which was admittadely a bit smaller, only took about a month, a good portion of which I wasn't even able to work on it! I guess this shows how much work goes into a game upfront, before you even properly start to make the levels.

And this is already it for the devlog at this point. I've been wondering about what the point of these truly is, and what I should write in them, but I think the truth is: These devlogs mostly serve the purpose of showing that the project is still going. And it is! Hopefully, I'll manage to finish it by May or June. If anyone out there is looking forward to that: Wish me luck!
